Whenever a couple divorces, their child is affected in all aspect. When it comes to joint custody of car insurance, there is little stated in the single parent insurance law as well as in insurance companies. It then gets complicated to a teenager driver whose car insurance should take on.

In situations like sharing custody, it is vital to have open communication between the parents and their insurance agents. The latter will be able to lay out options for the teenage driver as to when and what car will they be using. This will aid in establishing how the teenage driver should be listed on each parents’ insurance policy.

Divorced parents should not avoid the issue by buying their child their own individual policy. Parents may also want to take in mind whose car is older and who among them has a better driving record when contemplating whose policy to include in their child. If parents get to be open-minded and think about the best for their child and saving money, they will be able to avoid arguments over whose policy their child needs to take on.
